Chicago’s Irish community have chosen their queen. Lauren Corry, a 28 year old middle school art teacher from Wheaton, IL was selected today after a competitive nail biter of a contest to determine which of the windy city’s fairest colleens will wear the crown for the next year. Lauren will preside over the 60th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Saturday, March 14th stepping off on Columbus Drive. James Francis Coyne, Business Manager of Local 130 Plumber’s Union, sponsors of the parade for each of it’s sixty years, was beaming with pride at the judges selection of Ms. Corry, “She’s a phenomenal young lady!”
Joining Lauren will be a court of lovely lasses which includes 19 year old Catie Coghlan, Maggie Dolehide 28, Lauren Griffin 28, and Erin Mulcahy 24. The young ladies will be officially introduced to the Irish American community of Chicago at the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade corned beef and cabbage fundraiser at Plumber’s Hall, 1340 W.
